Weston Favell Centre
In terms of shopping at the Weston Favell Center in Northampton, access for a disabled person is generally easy though if you come in at the opposite end to the McDonalds you will find you have to walk the entire length of the ground floor to get to the lifts.
So if you can only walk short distances I would not really recommend you park your car at the wrong end. There are two lots of disabled parking, one inside which has quite a few spaces - this is at the McDonalds end of the centre. The opposite end has only one or two spaces and is outdoors.
Once you get out of the car and into the centre you will find some of the ground floor shops have narrow entrances and are difficult to manoeuvre inside due to small aisles also the counter tops can be quite high and this means you cannot reach to pay if you are in a wheelchair.
There is also a cafe which is level access.
The lifts are quite large as they have to accommodate shopping trolleys as well as people.
Once upstairs there is a fairly extensive array of the more popular shops including Au Naturel and Wilkinsons as well as WHSmiths most of these shops are much better offering level access.
Though again you will find the smaller shop units are less easy to get around.
Tescos has a huge store on the upper floor, in fact it is the biggest in the country apparently. The access is level and the doors wide. I did not see any disabled trolleys for shopping but this could have been because they were very busy, Tescos there is always busy at weekends. The store has a post office and a pharmacy as well as electrical and clothing, probably everything you need is in this store. But it is nice to go round the other stores as well.
There is a library on the upper floor, as well as coffee bars.
The main website has pages with upper and lower floor plans as well as other info, it also has a map that shows you how to get to the center
If you need general info about the center
